We all do it—search for the shortcut. As a musician and writer, I constantly find myself looking for the next big thing that might launch me forward: the right person to meet, the right moment to strike, the right formula to crack success. But here’s the truth—chasing shortcuts might be the very thing holding you back.

Our brains are wired to seek the path of least resistance. In today’s world, that means indulging in what’s easy, fast, and instantly gratifying. So even when we think we’re being productive, we often default to the question:

“How can I achieve X while doing as little of Y as possible?”

But creativity doesn’t work that way. And neither does growth.

This week’s reminder is simple: stop obsessing over the most optimized plan and just start. Go with your first idea. Make the thing. Say the thing. Write the thing. You'll figure it out by doing, not by overthinking.

Let us know if this resonates with you by leaving us comments on the bottom of our webpage.
