About Us
The Art Newsletter is an independent, student-owned publication built to help shape a more thoughtful and sustainable future for culture. Started by Wolfgang Burst, a musician, artist, and University of Texas student, and Jesog Brian Lee, a writer and computer engineering student at Texas State University, we believe that as algorithms increasingly shape what people see and value online, artists are forced to rely on rented platforms that offer visibility without stability. The Art Newsletter exists to help build a more independent cultural ecosystem and, over time, create new ways for artists to make a living. Based in one of the greatest artistic capitals of the US, Austin, Texas. Our position as living artists helps guide our brand as we continue to develop and grow. We are hosted on Ghost, which is an independent, web3, open source platform, which allows us to give writers full ownership of their work and a space to publish outside the constraints of gatekeeper media. But most importantly we believe that...
ART. CHANGES. THINGS.
This is the foundation of our publication. The belief that art holds power, and that power extends to those who create and appreciate it. We realized artists, curators and connoisseurs needed a space made just for them, a space to inform, inspire, and guide the creators of tomorrow in harnessing that power to make an impact. That's why we created The Art Newsletter. Every Thursday, we bring you a free, easy-to-read email packed with news, essays, and recommendations for college students and young creatives who want more depth than mainstream media and less dryness than academia. We are always evolving our mission and we want you to come along for the journey.
So we thank you for being here,
